Respecting authority is a basic principle in a democracy. Without this respect, there is total chaos, unrest, and anarchy. We have read about this result and even witnessed it through the years. I know many will say, “What if the leader is not a good one?” That is always the question. There will be good and bad leaders always. But respect remains the issue.
Children should respect their parents—there are sometimes bad parents.
Children should respect adults (their elders as I was always told.)–yes, there are bad ones.
Young people should respect their teachers—there are sometimes bad teachers.
Employees should respect their bosses—there are sometimes bad bosses.
All people should respect law enforcement officers—yes, there are some bad ones.
And yes, We all should respect our President—history will determine the good ones and the bad ones.
There will always be exceptions to a rule, but that should not keep us from following the rule. Lawful actions and respect for those in charge is of utmost importance in a free world.
“Obey your leaders and submit to their authority. They keep watch over you as men who must give an account. Obey them so that their work will BE A JOY, not a BURDEN, for that would be of no advantage to you.” Hebrews 13:17
Have a blessed day!
