“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Matthew 6:19-20.
I have studied this verse and I believe in what Jesus is saying. Then why do I have so much “STUFF”?
I really believe Jesus is not only talking about material possessions, but also the “stuff” that clutters our hearts.
I can clean out the stuff in closets and drawers and try to have the right attitude toward my possessions. But when my heart is full of anger or envy or resentfulness or any other attitude that separates me from God, then the “thief” can still break into my life and destroy.
As we clean out the stuff in our houses, may we all pay special attention to the clutter in our hearts. Then and only then can our treasure truly be stored in heaven, where God wants our heart to be.
Have a blessed day!
