Abraham and Lot had a special relationship. Even though Lot was Abraham’s nephew, he treated him like a son or a brother.
“Let’s not have any quarreling between you and me, or between your herdsmen and mine, for we are brothers.” Genesis 13:8
When Abraham sensed that a dispute was brewing, he took the initiative to solve the problem before it became a problem.
Abraham was the older and could have had his choice of land, but instead, he let Lot choose first.
Abraham’s example shows us how to respond to difficult family situations:
We should take the initiative to resolve the conflict.
We should let others have first choice even if it means not getting what we want.
We should put family peace above personal desire.
“We love because He first loved us.” 1 John 4:19.
Have a blessed day!
