“Where there is no vision, the people perish...” Proverbs 29:18
2020—His Perfect Vision
THE YEAR OF God’s perfect vision has come to an end
It has been difficult to understand or see.
But we know that He looks through loving eyes
That are clear as they can be.
He sees the past, present and future
This world is not all that will be.
He allows His children to learn from it all
And brighten the world that they see.
The year of perfect vision has brought pain and loss
And has changed the way that we live.
We often awoke feeling distrust and fear,
As we worried about what the world may give.
As thoughts of others weighed on our minds—-
The sick, the old, the weak—
We changed our daily lives and routine,
And guarded the words we wanted to speak.
Our faces were covered because of the threat
Of a virus that the world had not known.
We kept our distance from those we met
And stopped seeing our loved ones at home.
We gave up the gathering among ourselves,
Instead we watched privately at home.
We listened and studied but were sad to be left
To worship and praise God alone.
The world faced violence in an angry way,
Rejecting the love that only God can give.
We watched people put their needs over others each day,
Choosing hate as a way to live.
God’s perfect vision does not entail
Violence and chaos around.
But He does choose to let us make our choice,
And to live in the turmoil we’ve found.
He listens and hears our cries,
But He knows that in His time all He will mend.
When everyone believes and looks through His eyes,
And lives for His perfect end.
2020 is “the year of all years”
Or at least some think this is true.
But God’s heard this in times before,
And He knows He will see us through.
As 2020 comes to a close
Through it all we will find
We worship the One who sees all and knows
There is comfort and strength for all mankind.
Perfect vision is all God needs
To see the world now and what it can be.
But more than that, with a heart of love,
He sees clearly all the way to eternity.
