Good morning from The Garden!

During my senior year in high school, I tried out for the school play. This was a very big deal—the senior play—everybody wanted a part. I picked the part that I thought would be perfect. Of course, it was the lead female part.

I studied the lines and was prepared for my audition. But the part went to someone else. It was very hard for me to be happy for the other girl since I wanted this part so badly. I thought maybe the teacher/director was showing partiality or just hadn’t thought it through.

The memory is still a good one because I got a “smaller” part and the girl that played the lead was absolutely perfect for the character, and the play was a big hit. You think the teacher/director could see something that I just couldn’t see?

Our Heavenly Teacher knows each of us individually. We each have different talents and gifts. He does not expect all of us to play the same part. He just demands that each one play the role that has been assigned.

We have different gifts, according to the grace given us. If a man’s gift is prophesying, let him use it in proportion to his faith. If it is serving, let him serve; if it is teaching, let him teach; if it is encouraging, let him encourage; if it is contributing to the needs of others, let him give generously; if it is leadership, let him govern diligently; if it is showing mercy, let him do it cheerfully.” Romans 12:6-8

Have a blessed day!
In Christian love,
Diane
