Good morning from The Garden!

When my granddaughter Aidan was in the 3rd or 4th grade our school had “pee wee” basketball.  This was a way for the children to learn the game and have competition with others their own age.  The first game is one that I will never forget.  Aidan was excited and eager to play her best.  When she got in the game, she went after the ball.  She successfully got it and realized that she was on the wrong end of the court.  She was under the goal of the opposing team.  So she did what she knew to do.  She headed down the court to the other end and tossed the ball in the air and made the goal.  There was only one problem.  She clutched the ball firmly in her hands and ran—–she never dribbled it.  She just ran, grinned, and enjoyed the “cheering” of the fans.  She later learned to dribble and enjoyed the game of basketball for many years.

There is a time in your life when you must make the decision to leave the side of the opposition (sin, Satan) and turn toward the goal of eternal life with Christ.  This decision must be deliberate and will change your life.  Repentance means turning.

You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.”  Ephesians 4:22-24.

Your decision to follow Christ makes you a new person, but you have a life to lead here until He calls you to your Eternal Home with Him.

During your life between leaving the opposition and making your eternal goal, you will have to dribble——–make good decisions, forgive others, care for those who are less fortunate, heal the hearts of those who are hurting, grow in His grace, allow your life to be a witness to others——-

Don’t selfishly clutch your salvation.  Your goal is eternal life, but for now, don’t forget to dribble.

Have a blessed day!
In Christian love,
Diane
