Good morning from The Garden!

Jesus spoke of the Living Bread and people listened.  “This is the bread that came down from heaven.  Your forefathers ate manna and died, but he who feeds on this bread will live forever.”

On hearing it, many of His disciples said, ‘This is a hard teaching. Who can accept it?‘—“

“Jesus said to them, ‘Does this offend you? What if you see the Son of Man ascend to where He was before! The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you are spirit and they are life—–This is why I told you that no one can come to me unless the Father has enabled him.’ “ John 6:60-65.

Why did the words of Jesus offend some of His followers?

Maybe it was because——-

He did not say what they wanted to hear;
He did not give in to their selfish motives;
They realized He was not the conquering hero they were anticipating;
His teachings were so simple, yet difficult to understand;
He emphasized faith, not deeds.

As we grow in our faith, we will find it difficult to follow Christ unless the Father goes before us and enables us. We can never find the strength to go it alone.

Have a blessed day!
In Christian love,
