“Wealth and honor come from you; you are the ruler of all things..…” 1 Chronicles 29:12.
Ezra was a priest, a scribe,and a great leader who helped the Hebrew people return to the Holy Land from captivity to rebuild the temple.
In 1 Chronicles He pens the words from God that reminds us of a very important FACT: ALL THINGS BELONG TO GOD!
Why is it necessary for us to be reminded of this? We become self sufficient and proud of OUR accomplishments and in a human weakness start to believe that we are in control of things.—–sooooo we need to be reminded:
“But who am I, and who are my people, that we should be able to give as generously as this? Everything comes from you and we have given you only what comes from your hand.” 1 Chronicles 29:14.
We are to love unselfishly, and give willingly of what we have–time and money and possessions–and always remember that it all belongs to God.
Verse 18 ends with these words:
“O Lord, God of our fathers Abraham, Isaac and Israel, keep this desire in the hearts of your people forever, and keep their hearts loyal to you.”
Let this be our prayer today as we walk more closely with the Heavenly Father, Giver of Life and owner of everything.
