Good morning from The Garden!

“Zacchaeus was a wee little man and a wee little man was he……”  I know many of you have sung this song when you were little.  It tells a brief story about a man who wanted to see Jesus but he couldn’t see over the others that were gathered around.

He climbed high up in a tree to look over the crowd and to just get a glimpse of Jesus without causing a scene.

Jesus never misses anything!  “…He looked up in the tree and said, “Zacchaeus, you come down!  For I’m going to your house today.”

Jesus showed the crowds that followed him that he loved all people.   Zacchaeus was the chief tax collector and therefore very wealthy, and he knew that he was not the type that characterized the followers of Jesus.  ——At least, that is what he thought.  He felt unworthy as he looked down at Jesus.

But Jesus saw Zacchaeus as worthy.  When Jesus told him that He would have dinner at his house, Zacchaeus welcomed Jesus and proclaimed, “…..If I have cheated anybody out of anything, I will pay back four times the amount.”

In other words, he repented, he welcomed Jesus, and he changed his way of treating others.

Jesus responded, “Today salvation has come to this house because this man, too, is a son of Abraham.  For the Son of Man came to seek and to save what was lost.”  Luke 19:9-10.

No one is saved because of good heritage.  No one is condemned because of a bad one.

Everyone is welcomed into the kingdom.   No one is unworthy in His sight.  Jesus came to save all.

Have a blessed day!
In Christian love,
Diane
