Good morning from The Garden!

The backslider in heart shall be filled with his own ways and a good man  shall be satisfied from himself.”  Proverbs 14:14.

Now isn’t that interesting!  I bet you thought that we the people thought of this word!  But, in fact, this word is mentioned 8 or 10 times in His word.  God believes it is very real.

We can’t “backslide” from where we have never been.  So——the scriptures are talking to Christians or in the Old Testament His People.  People who know God and know how to follow His command,——–but don’t!

Notice that the main way that we “backslide” is to have too much confidence in our own way of thinking and acting.  We become convinced that everyone else is doing it so it must be all right. We write our own rules instead of following God’s rules.

Also notice in this scripture that the heart is where it all begins.  God knows the heart and instructs us to “guard the heart” because it is the “wellspring of life.”

If we  hold on to God and keep Him close to our hearts, we will have a solid grip on the slippery slope that is life.  We can “forwardslide” not “backslide.”  Now, that is a good idea!

Have a blessed day!
In Christian love,
Dia
