Good morning from The Garden!

I stood on the streets of New York City and looked high into the sky at the tall buildings that surrounded me. (Since I am from a small town in the Delta, tall, for me, is a house with stairs.) I noticed thousands of windows and imagined that behind every window was a story—a life—a soul——–

Thomas was trying to make it in the corporate world, wanting to provide for his beautiful bride; Susan was the girl with the sad eyes; Alice was a single mom, trying to care for her three young children; Mr. Young was taking care of his son who had been injured in a work-related accident; Maria eagerly awaited a call-back from her audition for a Broadway play; Elizabeth and Dave had just moved in to their new penthouse apartment, celebrating his promotion to partner in his firm—–

Maybe in New York and other large cities, we all just see the mass, walking hurriedly down the crowded street.  We never see individuals or personalities, but God does.
God knows each one by name. “I have written your name on my hand–-” Isaiah 49:16. God knows your name!

Just as the shepherd knows his sheep, God knows you and calls you by name.

“The sheep listen to the voice of the shepherd. The Shepherd calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. When He has brought out all his own, he goes on ahead of them, and his sheep follow him because they know his voice.” John 10:3-4.

Quite a thought, isn’t it—your name on God’s hand; your name on God’s lips, calling you to follow Him!

Maybe you feel your name has never been honored, but take time to realize that it is being honored now.

God wants to lead you, but you must first listen as He whispers your name, and then follow His voice.

Have a blessed day!
In Christian love,
Diane
