Good morning from The Garden!

Has something ever just made you smile.  Well, a trip to the OMV brought a smile to me this week.  Yes,  it’s true.

After waiting in line outside for my turn to go inside and wait some more, I walked over to the waiting area.  The chairs (safely socially distanced) were all taken so I just did what seemed normal to me–I stood near the wall to wait my turn.  This young lady saw me and jumped up from her chair.  “Here, you take my seat.”

I said, “No, that’s okay. I don’t mind standing.”  This is the truth since I stand all the time.

She said, “Oh, no,  my Mom would kill me if she thought I took a seat and let an older woman stand.”  And she walked to where I was standing, and I thanked her and took her seat.

I told you this made me smile.  Well, I smiled in response to her gesture of kindness, but I also smiled because I knew that my mom had always told me the same thing.  The only difference now was that I was that old person. LOL

Her action was appreciated, and I know now that my reaction was equally important to her.

I almost argued again that I was fine, but I stopped myself and smiled as I let her do what she was taught to do.  I let her be kind.

God’s Holy Scripture lists kindness as one of the fruits of the Spirit.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.  Against such things there is no law.”  Galatians 5:22.

“By their fruit, you shall know them….”  Matthew 7:16.

–And I might add—–Kindness is color-blind.

Have a blessed day!
In Christian love,
Diane
