Past–Present—Future! Jesus covered it all in his powerful prayer found in John 17. He prayed for Himself, for His disciples, and for future believers.
Jesus is the Past–“And now, Father, glorify me in Your presence with the glory I HAD with You before the world began.” John 17:5.
Jesus prays for the Present–“I am in the world no longer, but they ARE still in the world, and I am coming to You. Holy Father, protect them by the power of your name–the name You gave Me—so that they may be one as We are one.” John 17:11
He looks to the Future–“I pray for those who WILL BELIEVE in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you.” John 17:20.
Jesus prayed for you and for me and for all those who will believe. He is the past; He prays with you and for you now; and He prepares you for the future.
