After an active morning of playing outdoors, the little boy arrived back home, shirt in hand, and asked his mother, “Who am I?”
His mother playfully guessed, “Tarzan?”
“That lady down the street was right,” he exclaimed. “She said I was so dirty even my own mother wouldn’t know me!”
Do you ever feel dirty from the sin in your life? Well, you will never be so dirty that God will not recognize you.
God not only recognizes you, he is standing ready to clean you up.
“Cleanse me with hyssop, and I will be clean; wash me and I will be whiter than snow.” Psalm 51:7.
David was truly sorry for his actions. He had committed adultery with Bathsheba and had murdered her husband to get what he wanted. How could he ever be clean again? He had betrayed himself; he had betrayed others; and most of all he had betrayed Almighty God.
God knew David, recognized his repentance, and stood ready to forgive him. No sin is too great to be forgiven.
Like David, you can be cleansed to begin life again, and God will give you courage and strength to work through the natural consequences that are before you as a result of the sin.
Yes, wash me and I shall be whiter than snow!
