Good morning from The Garden!

I remember taking Home Economics when I was in high school. We simply called it Home Ec. (I bet that opened the door of memory for some of you.)

We were taught skills in cooking and sewing. I think I still have one of the aprons that I made. I learned the basics for sewing, and for a while, I attempted to sew for myself and my children.

After a while, I sewed less and less, and now I am down to hemming a pair of pants or sewing on a button. Many took advantage of this teaching, practiced it daily, and developed a skill that just got better and better through the years.

So often we fail to keep our Biblical skills sharp. We become dull and try to remember what we learned long ago, instead of improving and using our knowledge on a day to day basis.

“If the ax is dull and its edge unsharpened, more strength is needed, but skill will bring success.” Ecclesiastes 10:10.

It is very hard to chop wood with a dull ax. If your ax is dull, you sharpen it to do a better job. If we do not continue to study God’s Word, we will become dull. Living life in God’s will becomes more difficult.

Instead of giving up, you would be smart to sharpen your skills through study, proper traine ing, and daily practice in God’s Word.

You can then be more effective in doing God’s will.

Have a blessed day! In Christian love, Diane

I
