Do good people go to heaven? This debate has been tossed about for centuries. It was brought to my mind once again when I heard a “Christian” commentator say that he believed that good people go to heaven, just because they are good.
Okay, let’s assume that good people do go to heaven. That would mean that sinners or bad people go to hell, right? Well, then that would mean that we could save ourselves by being good. (all the time). “There is no one righteous; no, not one.” Romans 2:10.
You can’t believe in the virgin Mary; the birth of God’s son, Jesus; His suffering and death on the cross; His resurrection; and His ascension unto the Father and not believe His life had a purpose—-to save all of us——- even good people.
If mankind could have been good on their own, then there would have been no reason for Christ to come into this world—–no reason for the cross.
If you believe one word of the Holy Scriptures, then you must believe it all.
“For by grace are you saved through faith,[in Jesus], and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God—not of works lest any man should boast.” Ephesians 2:8-9.
To be a Christian means you are of “Christ.” When you are of Christ, you want to be “Good” because of who He is. Your good works lead others to the love of Christ that is within you.
The Apostle Paul said these words: “By the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace to me was not without effect. No, I worked harder than all of them[the apostles]—yet, not I, but the grace of God that was with me.” 1 Corinthians 15:10.
I pray today for all to know the blessed Holiness of God through Jesus Christ who loves all people–the good and the bad.
Have a blessed day!
In Christian love,
Diane
