Good morning from The Garden!

Our hearts break this morning as we pray for the families of Hallie, Evelyn, and William.  These three 9-yr old children were killed in the shooting at Covenant School in Nashville.  It is heartbreaking and hard to wrap our arms around a useless tragedy like this.  Our prayers are also with the families of the adults Katherine, Cynthia, and Mike who were killed.

This is my open letter to you:

Someone chose evil on this day and your lives will forever be changed.

When God gave us choice, evil came into this world.  The first act of violence happened in the first family that God created.  When Cain killed his brother Abel, he made a choice to follow his envy and jealousy instead of the voice of God.

Everyone since the beginning of time has the right to make a choice—to choose evil or to choose good; to choose violence or peace; to choose love or hate; to choose to forgive or to bear the burden of un-forgiveness–the choice is always there.

King David suffered the death of his precious son.  While his son was sick, he mourned, he did not eat, he wept; he spent sleepless nights–“When the child was gone, he got up, washed, put on lotion, changed his clothes, and ate….”  When others asked him how could this be, he answered:  “Can I bring him back”  I will go to him but he will not return to me.”  In other words he went on living.

I pray that you will love, sing, worship, laugh, and play in the honor of the lives these little ones cannot live.  Honor these angels in this special way, and their smiles will remain in your heart forever.

Please feel the comfort and strength that God can bring as millions around our nation are praying for you.

God bless you!
In Christian love,
Diane
