John 15:4.

Good morning from The Garden!

I have a tall Oak tree in my backyard.  We planted it many years ago and have watched it grow.  My children at one time played leap frog over it, but now its large branches reach out and shade my backyard..

During its growing period, my husband would systematically trim the bottom limbs off so it would grow taller and not just bush out.  Each time we have a storm or a wind, branches fall off and get separated from the main trunk of the tree.

Whether the trimming is intentional or whether the trimming comes without a plan, I’ve noticed something each time—-the branches then become useless.  They are good only to  be cast aside and burned.  They are without value when separated from the main tree.

Jesus warns us of living our lives away from the source that gives us life.  Jesus is the true vine (tree) that keeps us connected to life everlasting.

“No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine.  Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.”  John 15:4.

When we separate ourselves from God, we are like these branches—-tossed away and worthless. We can bear His fruit only when we “remain in the vine.”

Have a blessed day!
In Christian love,
Diane
