Good morning from The Garden!

“BE WHERE YOU ARE!”

My friend Yvonne shared this little bit of advice that was told at the memorial service for Georgia Savoie, a mutual friend of ours:

Her son told that she had gone with him to his child’s basketball game.  After it was over and they were driving home, she looked at him and said, “Where were you tonight?”

He replied with some confusion, “Mom, I was here at the basketball game with you.

She said, “No you were not!  You were on your cell phone all night.  Son, you need to be where you are.

Simple but so profound, this statement packs a powerful lesson.

Phone calls, text messages, TicTok, face book, youtube, instagram, snap chat, newsreels, ballgames and so much more can occupy your time when you are with others.  You  may not even realize that you are not “where you are.” It leaves very little time to build relationships with others and with God.

You can’t change the past;  you have little control of the future; you just need to live in the present.

God wants the same attention from us daily.

‘I know the plans I have for you,’  declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.‘ ”  Jeremiah 20:11.

You can trust God confidently, He has a plan, but first you have to be where you are.

Have a blessed day!
In Christian love,
Diane
